What is your favourite enzyme, and why?
That would be most of the eukaryotic kinases. Structurally, they look like a pac-man. Functionally, we have over 500 different types of kinases and regulate all aspects of our biology. Some of my favourite kinases are PKA (I learned everything about kinases from PKA and I also met the scientist, Susan Taylor from UC San Diego, who solved its structure) and NMR family of kinases (my PhD work).

Anything from Haruki Murakami and Fyodor Dostoevsky
What is the most recent book you’ve read?
Blindness by Jose Saramago

What is your favourite amino acid, and why?
Tryptophan, most wholesome from the look of it.

What are some of your hobbies?
Exercising, reading, and watching Japanese & Chinese Animes.
What is your dream vacation?
Taking a sabbatical in Iceland or New Zealand.
What is the coolest project you’ve ever worked on?
I summarized all of the papers published by Dr. Maud Menten.
What’s the biggest mistake you’ve made in lab?
I once spilled radioactive ATP contaminated water everywhere.
